Distinguished Finalist - National Service Award for 10th Grader Emily Smith

10th grader Emily Smith attended 2018 Prudential Spirit Of Community Service Award Ceremony at the State Capital. She was chosen as a distinguished finalist in Hawaii and one of 234 finalists out of several thousand applicants throughout U.S. The governor gave her a certificate and she attended the Senate and House. Emily began a pet-rescue organization called "Lend A Paw" to support shelter animals in the U.S., and Japan by making dog treats and pet toys and supporting charity fundraising efforts. Emily is determined to ensure that shelter animals are able to live in a safe environment and are well-fed.
